Where To Buy Bactroban Nasal Ointment

Briefly close your nostrils by pressing both sides of your nose for three to five seconds. This will help spread the ointment throughout the nasal passage. It will also prevent the ointment from leaking from the nostrils when you breathe or sneeze.

You should apply a smaller quantity of the ointment (perhaps the size of a match stick head) into both nostrils twice a day for 3-5 days. A cotton bud instead of the finger is a good option for administering Bactroban nasal to infants and can be used for adults as well.

For most people, the nasal carriage is normally cleared of the staph infection within a week (5-7 days) of using the treatment. But our clinician will monitor you to ensure the ointment is working as it should.

Mupirocin nasal ointment is used to kill bacteria which can live in your nose, and which can spread to other people when you breathe or sneeze. It is used in particular to kill bacteria called meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which can cause skin infections. Although you may have MRSA in your nose and be otherwise well, MRSA is easily spread to other people. If it spreads to a person who is frail or already ill, it can be difficult to treat.

Mupirocin nasal ointment must only be used for your nose, but there is also a cream and an ointment containing mupirocin which is used to kill bacteria on the skin. See separate medicine leaflet called Mupirocin for skin infections which gives more information about this.

Results: Included in the trial were 59 patients-22 presenting MRSA infections and 37 MRSA colonization. In 14 patients we found simultaneous colonization in several anatomical sites, while in 15 patients we saw, in addition to the MRSA infection, colonization at another site. Among the infections most frequent were infections of soft tissues (11), while colonization occured chiefly in the nasal mucosa (14) and in skin defects (8). In the treatment of mild infections we had good results with co-trimoxazole, in the treatment of colonizations mupirocine in the form of ointment (Bactroban ung.). During a six-month follow-up of 25 MRSA-positive patients at our Out-patient Dpt. we saw the disappearance of the MRSA strain in 7 subjects (28 %). 041b061a72
